What a beautiful couple! Meet Hayley and David, There’s such a sweet love story between the two of them
“Dave and I met basically by freak accident. We had some mutual friends on Facebook so he added me. One night in October of 2008, while I was a Freshman and Indiana State and he was a Junior, I was at McDonald’s with my family and I saw a girl I had a class with and waved to her. Dave was with this girl and took this as his chance to say something to me. That night, on Facebook of course, he messaged me and asked how my McDonald’s was. After talking for 6 hours that night, I figured out pretty quickly that I had to hang out with this guy. We were dating a week later!”
“My family and I instantly fell in love with him. I’ve never met someone that had so many similar views on things and as I do. The biggest plus is that we both LOVE the St.Louis Cardinals… we wouldn’t get along well during baseball season if that weren’t the case. His favorite color is orange, which I love also. But my favorite color is constantly changing. I get bored quickly, but it’s currently yellow. Haha. We LOVE watching movies. We have a pretty impressive movie collection we’re both pretty proud of, and going to the movie theater is our favorite thing to do for date nights And as far as favorite food places… well we just love food in general. It depends on the day as far as what our favorite would be haha. But the one thing him and I always agree on is pizza. We considered it for the rehearsal dinner but mom shot that down pretty quickly “
“Our engagement story is actually a pretty funny one. We had been talking about the possibility of getting engaged for a few months because we knew we wanted to live together when my lease was up at my old apartment. But he knew it was important to me that we were at least engaged when we moved in together. I even told him that I didn’t want him spending a lot of money on it and that I would love it if he just made that my birthday or Christmas present. My birthday rolls around.. no ring. He tells me “Don’t get your hopes up. You’re not getting a ring for Christmas.” I was a little bummed.. but figured, hey.. it’ll happen when it’s supposed to! Christmas eve was spent with my whole family. I thought my crazy drunk uncle had been acting funny towards me, but I didn’t think much of it. I figured if he was going to do it for Christmas, he definitely would do it in front of my family. We left my parent’s house and I had no ring. That night we opened our gifts from each other at my apartment. He had gotten me a beautiful black diamond ring… but it wasn’t an engagement ring. After we were done, he made a strange request, he asked if I would stay up until midnight with him.. I agree to it and sat and watched him play the Playstation 3 that I bought him for 2 hours, just to stay up until midnight with him. Midnight rolls around and my roommate and her boyfriend have left suddenly.. that was strange. Then Dave quickly gets up after I point out the time and goes to the bathroom.. also strange. He comes back out a few seconds later and comes over to me while I’m sitting on the couch and gets down on one knee in front of me. He took out a ring box, but I thought it was the other ring he had given me earlier… so I was super confused. But when he started talking and opened up the box.. it was NOT the same ring and of course, I said yes !” – Hayley
What did David Have to say? This is so sweet!
“I had known for quite some time I wanted to marry Hayley, but I kept putting off buying the ring and started to think about when I would actually propose. Then, one day at work, I decided to take a look at rings for her. I saw the ring I wanted to get her and told the salesman at the jewelry store to order it. I had absolutely no idea how I was going to do it, but I was going to propose on Christmas because I had already convinced her she wasn’t getting a ring for Christmas and would never be expecting it. My original plan was to propose to Hayley on Christmas morning right after we woke up, but after the disaster of awkwardness at her parent’s house from her drunk uncle and how the black diamond ring I bought her was too small, I knew I was proposing to her tonight and nothing was going to stop me. My nervousness and butterflies were out of my mind until the moment before I asked her to marry me. The wait from the time I asked her at 12:00AM Christmas Day until she said yes was without a doubt the most agonizing moments of my entire life! After a good 5 minutes of her crying, I confidently tell her, “Oh, by the way, this ring fits.” The rest is history Well…
That’s their story. Ours is about to unfold! I could see how much fun they were when we met with them on a family photo shoot here in Ponce Inlet. The first thing we spoke about is our commonalities. (we’re redheads). So we were all on the same team here! 🙂 During the family shoot I had an image in my head from somewhere about a couple who just decided to stop on the boardwalk and give a cute little kiss.”
There was so much fun in the air. I couldn’t resist. We did manage to get the family shoot out of the way and combine their engagement shoot while they were vacationing here in Daytona Beach.
